Dipo Faulkner is the Country General Manager for IBM West Africa. In this role, he is responsible for IBM’s overall business in the region, with a focus on deploying IBM’s advanced technology capabilities in Cognitive, Cloud Computing, Big Data and Analytics, Mobile and Security to solve current and future needs of institutions in key economic sectors. He is also responsible for providing leadership for IBM’s relationships and corporate social initiatives in the civil society, ICT and academic communities.
With over 25 years of regional experience, Dipo led IBM’s Global Business Services for Central & West Africa from 2014 – 2016 and helped develop strong client relationships in the region, including local and regional banks, telcos, oil & gas companies and industry regulators.
Dipo Faulkner is the President of the American Business Council, where he represents and spearheads the interests of American companies in Nigeria and promotes trade and investment between Nigeria and the United States.
Prior to joining IBM, he was a Director at Accenture’s Nigeria Financial Services Operating Group covering the West African region, where he successfully led several technology and business transformation engagements including strategy development and implementation, organization design, technology strategy definition, application implementation, business process architecture, mergers & acquisitions, and post-merger integration.
He has a proven track record of leading businesses in client acquisition, expansion and retention, with strong capability in managing Board and C-level relationships. He is highly skilled in developing technology-enabled strategies for large and dynamic organizations, with strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving capabilities across multi-national environments and dispersed teams.
He has experience across Financial Services, Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Energy & Utilities and Consumer Products industries.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Lagos and an Advanced Management Programme Certificate (AMP) from Instituto de Empresa (IE), Madrid, Spain. He is also a certified PRINCE2 Project Management practitioner.
