At Grange School, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, providing a carefully balanced and integrated approach to early learning and care. This ensures that every child receives a high-quality education in a nurturing and supportive environment.
The EYFS framework guides our teaching and learning, giving both staff and parents confidence that children’s development is supported through consistent, high standard and best practices. We are committed to helping every child feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn from the very beginning of their educational journey.
Our Early Years provision is carefully designed to meet the needs of children at every stage of their development. We provide a nurturing, stimulating, and engaging environment for both our Nursery (Ages 2–4) and Reception (Ages 4–5) pupils, ensuring every child thrives and smoothly transits into KS1.
Our Curriculum
Our Early Years curriculum is built around four key principles:
A. UNIQUE CHILD We recognise that every child is unique and constantly learning. Our teachers carefully observe and assess each child’s development to plan meaningful next steps in learning. We support children in building confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of identity, while also identifying and addressing any additional needs.
B. POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS We believe that strong, positive relationships are at the heart of effective learning. At Grange School, we create an environment where children feel secure and valued through relationships that are:
• Warm and nurturing, fostering a strong sense of belonging • Responsive to each child’s needs, interests, and feelings • Encouraging of independence and confidence • Consistent, with clear and supportive boundaries • Built on strong key person relationships • consistent in setting clear boundaries • stimulating, built on key person relationships in early years

We promote the characteristics of effective learning by encouraging children to:
• Play and explore • Stay actively engaged in learning • Think creatively and critically
